Udinese Defender Nehuén Pérez Re-Signs on Permanent Deal
Argentine Center Back Returns to Italy
Udinese has announced the permanent signing of defender Nehuén Pérez from Atletico Madrid. The 22-year-old Argentine center back spent the second half of last season on loan at Udinese, making 15 appearances and scoring one goal.
Pérez is a product of the Argentinos Juniors academy. He made his professional debut for the club in 2016 and was part of the team that won the 2017 Copa Sudamericana.
The center back joined Atlético Madrid in 2018 but was immediately loaned out to Granada. He spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Famalicão in Portugal before joining Udinese last January.
Pérez is a versatile defender who can play both center back and left-back. He is strong in the air and is good at reading the game. The defender is also comfortable playing out from the back.
Udinese is hoping that Pérez can help them improve on their 12th-place finish in Serie A last season. The club has also signed midfielder Leandro Pereyra from Watford and goalkeeper Marco Silvestri from Hellas Verona this summer.
