Chelsea Beat Tottenham 2-0 to Boost European Hopes

Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson Give Chelsea Vital Win

Chelsea moved closer to securing European qualification with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening. Headers from Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson in either half proved to be the difference in an evenly contested London derby.

The win, coming just days after a disappointing defeat to rivals Arsenal, gives Chelsea a significant boost in the race for a top-seven finish in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Tottenham's hopes of securing a top-four spot have been dealt a significant blow.

Chelsea started the brighter of the two sides and took the lead in the 19th minute when Chalobah rose highest to meet a Ben Chilwell corner. The goal settled any early nerves and Chelsea continued to control the game, with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz both going close to doubling their advantage.

Tottenham improved after the break and had chances to level the score, but they were unable to find a way past a resolute Chelsea defense. Jackson sealed the victory for the hosts in the 76th minute, nodding in from close range after a cross from Hakim Ziyech.

Chelsea are now within touching distance of the top seven and European qualification. They will be hoping to build on this victory when they travel to Leeds United on Sunday.
